Simplicity

Simplicity was the photo challenge over at Brit mum's today. I really do not take many pictures now my kids have grown up, but maybe I should . So I am going to do more of these photo challenges in hopes it make me love taking pictures again. Just for today I am using one taken by my son Matthew at his sister Natalie's wedding last year. For me the simple little lights hanging in the trees were so beautiful and peaceful.

Nearly Retirement

This is a picture of myself and my husband Kevin. Next month on the 16th November he takes early retirement from a long career in the Fire service. I really do not know where the last few years have gone. We will be married in July 34 years and it really has flown past. I remember him joining the fire service and as the worry I had about him being safe. Over the years I got on with life and thankfully he stayed safe.

I think we have had a good life. Don't get me wrong we like most couples have had ups and downs but we are still together. I do think these days its all to easy to get out of a marriage and that if you try and work through things it could get better.
So we are going into a new phase in our journey and I hope it is going to be a good one. We have two lovely children Matthew and Natalie who are married to lovely people Karen and Robin, so we are lucky.

As yet I don't know what we shall be doing..... I hope a holiday as its been a long time since we did that. I really want to visit America as its my fave place and to see my friends April and Darian , and Canada to visit my nephew and friend Janie.
I guess for Kevin its scary as he has always worked and it must make him nervous. Knowing him as well as I do have no worries as I am sure he will be fine. He has always provided for us and done his best and I am sure just because he is a pensioner he will still do the same.

So watch this space for updates and also our big party next month with some pictures to share .

Good luck kevin love you loads xx

Accident Prone Sunday

Accident prone Sunday is a great name for this weekend. It started out good with my flu injection going painless and with little to no waiting so that made me smile. Later I went off to a craft class and I had lots of fun and laughing and chat, a great way to start a weekend.
I am having a stall at a Christmas event next month, so I have been busy making stuff. Its been very hard work as I am doing it all myself, but I am very proud of all the things that I have made.

So Sunday was wet and pouring down so I thought I would be bad and not go to church as make some more things. I was really doing well and then I thought I had a great idea. I would use my cuttle bug die cut/embossing machine to cut some felt. You have to put the plate on and your fabric or paper, and put it through the machine, by turning the handle. So I turned and at the point of most  stress my hand slipped and the handle shot back and clipped my finger. Boy did it hurt lol. Within the hour my finger had swelled up and was going a nice shade of purple.
It was such a pain ( very fun lol lol ) and I could not sew anymore and I was doing so good. The my arm were I had my flu jab started to hurt. Oh dear not a good day lol/

So on Monday I will attempt to stay safe lo, wish me luck

Don't Panic!

Panic or should I say Panic attacks. If you have never had one you are very lucky. If you have then you will understand.

I guess mine started when I was young.I am not blaming my mum buts I don't think it helped. She had a very bad experience being trapped in an elevator with a person who was ill. It left her with a real fear and I wonder if some of that rubbed off onto me.

My earliest memory was going on the London underground. I hated it all the crowds and rush it was my personal nightmare. I always remember being offered a seat as I looked like I was pass out on the spot.
As I got older it did not get better. Then to make matters worse I fainted on the underground train, which only made my fears worse. Later I married and my husband often lost patience with  me when I needed to rush out of places when I could not cope.

What I have to say is "You can't help it!" Your body tells you that you are in danger. For me I feel faint and short of breath and dizzy. My heart races and I need to sit down or get out of the place I am in. I fight the panic often even on basic shopping trips which should be fun. I avoid concerts and places were lots of people will be, or worse I can't sit at the end of a row. The last time I saw a show we arrived and our seats were right in the centre. and I spend the whole first half calming myself down.

The older I get the more things bother me. I hate small spaces, concerts, movies or shows all make me break out in a sweat. The over riding fear of being trapped is really unpleasant and sad. I have some control but its not something you can just wish away, or get over,
These days I don't get out much and I live in the countryside both has added to the problem in a way as I don't see any volume of people.

I do not think family and friends know what a huge problem this is for me, as I cover it well. I am a happy person so I can cover it up, but maybe that works against me at times.
So if you suffer or knows someone who does, be kind to yourself or them. We need understanding and support.
Please, please, please never say "Pull yourself together" this really does not help and its not as simple as that.
I stress again be kind, and supportive and have patience. Please

So with a promise like that I was excited to get my delivery. When it arrived I was firstly impressed with the packing. All items were well packed and even came with a freezer pack to keep it cool. I have to be honest here and say I did think it was to drink lol. Thankfully my son in law stopped me before I did!

As I said I was being asked to try the breakfast and I had three to pick from. First was a really yummy Fig and orange flapjack. It tasted fantastic and was sticky and sweet and filled me up. Best part was it lasted till lunch time and I was not hungry once, which for me is great.

My next pick was the Tropical Paradise Muesli and I was just as impressed. It comes with its own measure so no guess work or scales needed. It was packed full of pineapple and banana chips to name but a few. The amount seemed tiny but it was very filling and once again I lasted until lunch.
I should add that I even  got a carton of soya milk in my parcel so I did not have to go out and buy it, so easy!

The last one that I had this week was a yummy Beautiful Banana Smoothie. Packed with loads of great stuff such as ginger, lemon and yogurt and mixed with your milk, it made a nice start to the day. I don't think it was a filling as the others but it was still nice, and it did make a change from cereal.

I was very impressed with the My Food Breakfasts , I found it easy to use and everything at hand so taking out all the work. I Would love to try others in the range such as main meals and lunches, as I am sure they would be just as nice.
I know it can be costly to buy this type of programme but how much is spent on other diet items, such a books or club memberships. Everything is done for you and everything is provided. I would think it would be great for anyone, why not check it out for yourself. Click on the link below to go straight to the web site.

please note I was not paid for this review only getting the products to try.

Rock of ages review

Rock of ages the film is the review of the day. I was very happy to be given the chance to watch this film as I really think Tom Cruise is a great actor. I even got my own rock wig and blow up guitar to really get me in the mood.

If you love rock music and the 80's you will love this film.  It has all the classic rock songs from this time such as Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Def Leppard and Guns N Roses. This gives the time period that many will remember and enjoy all over again.
Good plot a little silly at times but still fun and with great performances throughout. I was totally entertained and my attention held for the whole film.
The story is about two young people Sherrie and Drew and their dreams of making big in the music business. The film really brings out their characters and if they reach their dreams or not.
Got lots of other great cast members such as Alec Bladwin, Catherine Zeta Jones, Mary Blige to name but a few.
I should say it is not a movie for the young family as there is a far amount of drugs and sex, but long as you are aware of this from the start its not going to be a problem.
I was very impressed with Tom Cruise. He performed the part of a rock star to perfection. I have to say he really sounded and looked the part.

If you love rock music and love the 80's you will love this film. Its a really musical journey which I am sure for many will be back loads of memories.
Available in most shops but also online at

www.amazon..co.uk price £10.00

Please note I was not paid for this review , only receiving a copy of the film.

You will always be my baby!

You will always be my baby is something my mother said to me many years ago. At that time I did not have children and didn't think much of it , only to laugh.
Many years later its has come back to me in force.
My youngest is 26 and is married and has her life as an adult. We still remain close and I think I can say I am close to both my children. My oldest is nearly 31 and I think we have a good relationship and I think I did a good job with them both.
So this past weekend my youngest had to have an operation and it was so hard for me. I tried to be upbeat for her as I knew she was nervous.
As they wheeled her off I told the porter to look after her or I would hunt him down! He thought I was just having fun, but boy did i mean it lol.

She came through fine and I went straight back to when she was small, rubbing her back and brushing her hair off her face.
My mothers words "You will always be my baby" came right back.
I think no matter how old your children are they will always be your baby. Children grow so fast and we spend so much time in the day to day stuff, we don't see the time slipping away from us.
So enjoy your children and all those special little things you do with them and that they say.
I am still enjoying mine and I love them totally more so than ever. Just remember

"You will always be my babies"
